Empowering the Women of tomorrow!

Wild Thing pose, also known as Camatkarasana in Sanskrit, is a dynamic and invigorating yoga posture that opens the heart and stretches the entire front side of the body.

I feel incredibly honoured and excited to be bringing Yoga to St Mary’s School, Ascot. This is a new step in my journey, empowering young women through movement and mindfulness.

Teenage girls face a myriad of challenges – from academic pressures to social expectations and personal insecurities. In the midst of these challenges, finding inner strength and confidence can often feel like a constant battle. However, there exists a powerful tool that can help teenage girls navigate these turbulent years with grace and resilience; yoga.

Beyond the physical postures (asanas), yoga encompasses breathwork (pranayama), meditation and mindfulness techniques, all of which contribute to overall well-being. For teenage girls, who may be grappling with stress, anxiety, or self-doubt, incorporating yoga into their daily routine can be truly transformative.

One of the most profound aspects of yoga is its ability to cultivate a sense of body awareness and acceptance. In a society that often bombards young girls with unrealistic beauty standards, yoga encourages them to embrace their bodies exactly as they are. Through gentle movement and mindful breathing, teenage girls can learn to listen to their bodies, honouring their strengths and limitations without judgment and this newfound body confidence will not only foster a positive self-image but will also instil a sense of empowerment that transcends the yoga mat.

Moreover, Yoga provides teenage girls with invaluable tools for managing stress and anxiety. The practice of mindfulness, central to yoga, teaches them to anchor their awareness in the present moment, letting go of worries about the past or future. By cultivating this present-moment awareness, girls will learn to navigate life's challenges with greater clarity and equanimity. Whether they're preparing for exams, navigating friendships, or facing personal struggles, the resilience they can develop through yoga, will enable them to face adversity with grace and poise.

Beyond its psychological benefits, yoga also offers a wealth of physical advantages. Regular practice improves flexibility, strength and balance – all of which are crucial for overall health and fitness. For teenage girls, who may be experiencing rapid changes in their bodies, yoga can provide a safe and nurturing space to explore movement and develop a strong foundation for lifelong health.

Empowering these girls through yoga, movement, and mindfulness is more than just physical exercise – it's about nurturing their holistic well-being and helping them realise their full potential. By providing them with the tools and techniques to cultivate self-awareness, resilience and confidence, we can hope to empower them to navigate life's challenges with grace, courage and authenticity. And in doing so, we pave the way for a generation of empowered young women who are ready to create positive change in the world.

and you’ll feel order in your soul.

Create beauty around you,

and you’ll feel beauty in your soul.’
